Kick-off for German national project AeM-Speedport with Speech Understanding Support for Pushbacks at Paderborn Airport

The Speedport project will enable remotely controlled pushback processes without human operators being in the physical airport gate area. Amongst other innovations, the verbal controller utterances will be analysed for pushback clearances to automate the pushback process. DLR is cooperating with e.g., ADB Safegate, EML Speech Technology, and Airport Paderborn/Lippstadt to implement the speech recognition and understanding technology. Furthermore, DFS Aviation Services supports the development with operational speech data.
